First Real Pre/webOS Golf App Test

Friday, August 21st, 2009

Well.. I played 18 holes today with a bunch of friends and was able to give my app a thorough usability test.  I’ve added a couple modifications to the score entry screen now because of it.

  1. A user can now cycle through the holes and players (if there is more than one) from the score entry screen.
  2. added a small score board for the currently listed player for easy access to the information.

I may actually add a couple things now as well.. Like a leader board type score screen to show all the players score information more simply and not displaying each holes score on that screen.

Below are a couple screen shots of the new score entry screen.  You can also tap the header and change the players name or relink the player to another contact.

Interesting marketing by Sprint for their NOW network and the Palm pre

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Doing some browsing as I’m waiting impatiently for next weeks release of the Palm pre I came across Sprints marketing site for their NOW network and the Palm pre. Interesting idea. Here is their custom widget one can post on their own site.

Converting Lat/Long to/from stuff

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

I’ve had a “fun” couple days trying to figure out how to convert Lat/Long both to and from pixel x/y values. It took me a lot longer than I thought it would. I will post some code in another post, when I’ve had a chance to clean it up and make sure it works properly. What a struggle. Still waiting for the Palm pre to be released so I can officially begin development of my new app.

Pixars Wall-E!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Pixar\'s Wall-EWell.. in my opinion, Pixar did it again.  Wall-E is yet another example of a great story brought to the big screen through Pixars teams of great animators and designers!  If you haven’t checked i out yet I would definitely recommend it!  And for a limited time probably… check out disney.com as they’ve got a fun flash based interface and intro based around Wall-E.

Manual Labor – Getting Rid Of The Carpet

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Well.. I finally decided to get rid of the carpet in the living room and the two bedrooms on my main floor.  I was able to see the wood floor in the closets and determined it would most likely be in good enough condition.  Turns out I was right.  Check the gallery here to see some pictures of the first bedroom.

Some forward progress on FWD-REV

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

I’ve been able to get back to FWD-REV a little here and there over the past week or so. I’ve set a goal for myself to try and work on one character or object a week to try and update them and enhance them for use with the latest version of Blender.  So this last week I took on the main character and some of the outside environment stuff.

Updating ED
I was able to update ED the main drill character to be fully subsurfed finally to get rid of any polygon edges you would normally see and also rebuilt the animation rig for simpler, easier control

Updating the Environment
I spent some time with the new particle/hair/strand capabilities and added the grass outside and updated some of the house textures and also worked with the lighting.
